In the footsteps of Arthur - June 2011 (PDF)

GLASGOW – SEPT 2010
A group of 12 members visited Glasgow at the beginning of September. The tour started with a day visiting major Mackintosh buildings, such as the Glasgow School of Art and The House for an Art Lover together with a private view of some original watercolours in the collection of the Hunter and Museum and tea in the Willow Tea Rooms.

On the second day, we took a boat trip to the Isle of Bute to visit Mount Stuart, one of the finest 19th century Gothic castles in Europe and on the third day we visited Glengoyne whisky distillery, lunched on the shores of Loch Lomond and then visited the Hill House at Helensburgh ending with an aperitif at the home of the home of Barbara and David Bruce, ex director of the Scottish Film Council.

On the final morning there was a visit to the ‘Glasgow Boys ‘exhibition before heading for the airport. A busy trip but good weather and excellent company.
