Art: Sculptors in Residence

L’association CRM proposed the sculptress Jane Robbins as artist in residence within the arts programme of Arles sur Tech, a new initiative of the mayor M. René Bantoure together with local artists Teresa Wennberg and Pierre Lobstein.
She completed her residency during the month of October and created a large landscape panel depicting life in Arles asur Tech which she donated to the town. In addition she produced a magnificent life size cast for a bronze relief of CRM.
This is from a photograph by Hoppé taken in the early twenties, just before the Macontosh’s departure for France. Providing we can raise the funding for the bronze casting, we hope to mount the result on the facade of the old Hotel du Commerce on Port Vendres.
The work so far has a value of around 3000€ and the casting is expected to cost a further 1500€. The Banque Populaire has agreed to contribute to the costs but further funding for this major work of art is needed.
